This game would need a Fromsoft-level raving impression, this game would need to be not only good, but exceptionally excellent for people to pay this price
looks like piracy will thrive again

People don't take the weight of losing quality human resources. I wonder where the GTA 4 programmers have gone, or the people who programmed the first Red Dead and the bounty hunting mechanics that were so well done, I think GTA 6 is going to be consumer slop and the story will really be boring but with very polished mechanics like The Last of Us 2 with very good combat mechanics and a story that is shit. This the brothers are gone the boss of 2k makes more bonus cash on microtransactions and have you played there recent gtao/rdr 2mp content even there content for the las 2k basketball game yikes.
People need to remember that grand theft auto 5 was made a good 17 years ago way different team/time/writers etc just look at the censorship in general even librarians are getting arrested for selling tom sawyer books.
Oh also the talk ps3/360 gta5 vs the current version all the censorship/cut content tracks etc

There has been a rise in piracy over the last 2-4 years. Some of it started with the boredom of covid, but inflation pushed it even faster afterlooks like piracy will thrive again
I mean we are mostly pirates here so most will probably pirate it until it goes to a sale price they are comfortable buying if they want the online stuff. It's sad but this is going to start being the norm going forward
yes, and we should push this back for the sake of gaming community. but bootlicker will just protect them and give them enough money to cover the expense, so i don't think this will ever stop soon. It's sad but this is going to start being the norm going forward
People with money will buy it if it is good enough. Most of those who can't afford will pirate it, wait for a sale or never play it.yes, and we should push this back for the sake of gaming community. but bootlicker will just protect them and give them enough money to cover the expense, so i don't think this will ever stop soon.
i think we are not on the same page. i mean, what you say is half the truth but not underlining the issue. if we allow companies to do this, more companies will do the same and it will be bad for everyone. take genshin for example, mihoyo pushes the boundary for what should be tolerable in f2p games monetization even further w/ genshin and now many companies are following their steps.People with money will buy it if it is good enough. Most people are willing to pay those prices since they find the price reasonable enough.
Which as proven people are actually willing to pay for. Whales are just better target audience now in most cases.i think we are not on the same page. i mean, what you say is half the truth but not underlining the issue. if we allow companies to do this, more companies will do the same and it will be bad for everyone. take genshin for example, mihoyo pushes the boundary for what should be tolerable in f2p games monetization even further w/ genshin and now many companies are following their steps.

That's without taking into account the censorship you're talking about. If they start censoring everything like in other games of these years (Total War and Blood), then they won't sell and their shares will go bust like EA.

Because loud gamers do not really matter only gamers that matter is the paying one.I think you both need to step back then look at rockstar after covid the gold bars on red dead 2 the only way to play the new content the grind on the mulitplayer is another job but credit card paywall is always in your face yet that mp has security issues from the first red dead online game.
Heck red dead 2 mp is still locked behind the purchese of the game $70 then hundreds of hours to unlock one of the online dlc packs.
Then you walk towards take 2's basketball games were the cost of items is equal to there cost real life no one complained
There was also last years report were they "lost" money but that included the purchase of zenga oh and development of upcoming games.

Now you go into grand theft auto online you can play the multiplayer seperate from the single player on ps5 that game has seen a huge surge of microtransactions pay per month subs all the bs.
So in the end what i am saying is that its not will they or have they its the fact take 2 right now is doing all the price increase greedy corporate crap yet still making bank at the end they spent 12 billion on zenga but only have 3 games out there in the wild to pay for it but they did

If you get off the rockstar/take 2 side then look at all the other AAA companies well you can spent thousands on diablo 4.
Here is a player that admitted to spending over 2 grand on path of exile

SO companies are doing massive price hikes but no one cares.
I have never owned a console and GTA 6 won't persuade me to buy one - as i like to play old titles after many years and i don't like to have a mess im my house (e.g. many consoles on one TV etc.). As i have always a Workstation type PC at home for my work i also use it for gaming as it is always up to date and beyond as a gaming machine.
Just some thoughts about the "high pricing":
Sometimes you buy a decent game for a full price then an Add-On gets sold for almost the same price with almost no additional contend compared to the origin game - you can be only gratefull that they did not shut down the original online expierence and introduce a version 2. I know we have inflation and so on.. but i remember when buying a Movie VHS cassette or DVD, game titles were just a little more expensive. Nowadays you buy a game for way more cash than movies. It's understandable that you have an online game where it's server infrastructure has to be maintained, therefore the games need to cost more - but wait, nowadays you buy your movies on streaming services and get a lot of movies/series for free and they have to maintain their servers too. Ok there is the catch - once you produce a movie its all settled - for games you can still get updates etc.. Of course AAA game titles have budgets like blockbuster movies nowadays - but why do many average games are in the same price range than AAA titles?
The anwser is simple: You buy a movie and you spend 2 hours and maybe in addition to that once a year you watch this movie again - let us assume you spent 40 hours in 20 years for that movie. When i just look at the spent hours of my favourite games they are sometimes in the 100s, one of them is almost at 2000. So when you spend more time on a certain game in weeks/months than on a movie over 2 decades i can understand why games get more and more expensive than movies.
Summing that up: No matter how much you will complain about the price, looking at the staistics, the majority will accept the price and will probably spend a lot of time with that game.
