Depends? Immediate family? Aka Parents/Siblings, then no. Something further? Cousin or something? Would depend on the situation I guess? My other family lives further away, so not much contact, so not really the kind of growing up together that keeps me from having any interest in my immediate family in that way.

Just for your info, i'm in a lifetime relationship with my big sis. We grew up together, went to school together, studied together, life together and work together. And now comes the fun part, we run a non profit woman shelter together and have to deal with all kinds of victims. If i remember correctly the only incest case that endet here was because her brother died and she broke because she couldnt handle life without him. But what you described are 40% of all non incest cases we get here.

That's actually thing people never think about, like, sure most of the incest cases with big age differences are probably about abusing the difference in power, but so are most cases of big age differences without incest... and a astonishing number of non incest relationships in general are toxic too... people think they can just judge based on one thing, when they really can't... every single relationship needs to be looked at as its own.

I have heard of a mens shelter. But that doesn't mean it was for victims of abuse. However the lack of a mens shelter for abuse isn't a defining factor because we live in a culture where the abuse of men is kept hidden, played down, or dismissed outright.

And if we are talking about victims without the ability to survive that can be applied to any number of people all genders included.

But you are right in one aspect. There are shelters necessary for the safety of women from an abusive partner. That cant be denied, and they are completely necessary. However like I said that doesn't mean men aren't victims of toxic behavior from women, and it doesn't mean anything when it comes to the ratio of men to women who are toxic to their partners. It just signifies that our society has deemed it necessary to protect women in this respect.

But our society isnt the smartest mass and our culture is a failure, going back to incest for example, the laws as well as the pseudo morals from religions came up when monarchy died. Well, i can only speak from my experience, i dont spent much time with males but we had more then 28k females here since we run the shelter. I'm biased, but i have an endless source of reasons for it and i dont believe in an even remotely even scale. I hate the saying woman are weaker, but i still think there are much more cruel brutes than sadistic bitches out there. I also never heard about a female pimp drugging and beating males into submission so they go whoring...
